Kari's time with David D. & his parents

An unexpected visit to Grandma & Grandpa's house this afternoon! We all loved it! Auntie Kari got to cuddle & hold him some more!! Tomorrow night we have a church baby shower to attend in baby's honor. These grandparents are so blessed to have their family enjoying one another and getting to know the newest addition to the family this weekend.

Sisters enjoying time with son/nephew. Don't they look proud?!

Daddy did get some holding time too!

He slept as we ate! Isn't he precious?!

The family is bonding!

Last evening I babysat while J & D went to a baby shower given by D's job. Before they returned they called to see how everything was and when they got home it was to quickly hold and cuddle their son! He had slept well for me so when they got home he wanted to EAT...right now. David D is so special! We love him so much!!

Monday's quick visit

It's so cozy on Grandma's shoulder!

David D was so alert tonight.

I had several items to bring to the Olson house. David D was wide awake and kicking in his crib. Grandma got to feed him his bottle when he fussed a little. After all that excercise he fell fast asleep on my shoulder...until the next feeding!

Sleeping

We went over to see little David again yesterday evening. While I was there all he would do is sleep. His mom and dad are doing fine. Like good first-time grandparents, we take photos every time we see him.

You have seen plenty of photos of little David here at this blog, but if you want to see him as he was at the hospital, click here: http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/babypage_view.asp?URLID=7R1D8T3V8F

Until the next post, thanks for reading, and thanks for your all your comments.

David D @ 6 days!

After work today Julie desired my help so I willingly agreed. It was wonderful to feed him some bottle, diaper change him, rock & cuddle him. Since we raised girls I "forgot" what surprises little boys can do so I got to dress him in several different outfits within a few minutes!!! Then it was to really cuddle him and warm him up!

Late last evening I remembered that since Julie not only recently delivered she also went through surgery ( C-section) so she has alot going on in her body. She is doing well but also needs to take good care of herself so she can heal quicker. Naps do wonders!

David D came home today!

Baby David D was discharged today from the NICU to home after his test results said all is normal. His parents were told to keep him home for the next 3-4 weeks as he would still be vulnerable to infections. Grandpa and Grandma got to visit awhile, they brought a meal, helped with some laundry, did a diaper change, plus some cuddling time. Julie is going through many emotions that can be overwhelming, but they are really great parents. Guess its our duty to really encourage them both at this time, so we are glad we can help. David D is still so amazing and darling!!

Bonding with David D

After work today I was able to just hold David D for over an hour watching all his little expressions, singing to him, and just loving him until Julie was ready to feed him. I'm so amazed at the miracle of our Grandbaby! His temperature was normal all day but until the tests come back normal after the 48 hours he is still in the NICU...precautionary receiving his antibiotics on schedule.

Kari's site gives more information.

We're Grandparents!

DD arrived at 10:18 pm via C-Section. He is 7 lb 14 oz and 21 inches. We are thrilled for his safe arrival. He is a miracle and we are proud grandparents.
I have to be off to work, so more to come later.
Until then, link to Kari's blog for more.

March 6, 2007

A few days ago I has photos of some cabinets I built for my garage workshop. I have now completed the doors as you see here. I constructed the doors in the same way one would make traditional kitched cabinet doors, making the rails and stiles on my router table. But instead of using raised panels as is often done for kitchens, I used pegboard. That way I was able to utilize the face of the cabinet doors for additional storage.

It turned out rather nice I believe. I have not yet decided if I will apply a finish to the wood. After all, they are just utility cabinets in my garage, and unfinished wood looks "right at home" in a woodworkers shop.
