2009-3-28 the Mississippi River with it's springtime rushing waters at St. Anthony Falls, downtown Minneapolis, MN. (Lock & Dam #1).

This Friday as doug was crossing over the new 35W bridge he noticed the river with many waves...strange, so he quickly exited to see what was happening. The next day we drove again to observe the rushing waters through the lock and dam area. Amazing! (Especially since the TV news was all about the flooding of the Red River areas in NW Minnesota.)

the white colored bridge is the new 35W Bridge.

Another view of the Old Flour Mill ruins..

There are waterways in the lowest section that

were maybe to help run the mills.

It must be rare that they release that much water through the dams? I remember being at those mill ruins, but I forget - what actually ruined them? a fire?
